It’s not just home to a fragile ecosystem of marine animals and plant life; it’s a place for fun, relaxation, and contemplation of all our earthly problems, and we take a day every June to celebrate its very existence. Our World Ocean’s Day Festival (one of many occurring around the world) takes place on June 8th at Stewart Beach Park from 4PM until 7PM. It is a festival families should not miss. Free admission (parking fees do apply) means this fun event is vacation budget friendly!
Hands-On Fun
Offering a touch tank filled with marine animals and arts and crafts stations for budding artists, this festival is not one that makes your kid keep their curious hands in their pockets! Children learn best through touch, and the festival participants are happy to explain to them the magic of the ocean. Comedy and music performed by Tom’s Fun Band keep the giggles going as children explore and create at the many booths found during the festival. Tom’s Fun Band teaches about conservation and protection of our oceans in a way that is entertaining without coming off as educational; kids don’t mind learning as long as they are having fun doing it! Marine Debris Art Contest
Discovering a way to have fun while ridding the waters of debris, submissions to the Marine Debris Art Contest will be on display throughout the festival. Artists use seaweed, sargassum, and trash to create art pieces that are ecofriendly, innovative, and beautiful beyond compare. Leave your children to create their own art as you stroll around the festival exploring and admiring the beauty of our talented eco-artists! Concession stands selling delicious foods and refreshing beverages are on the premises as well to quench your thirst. The festival preparers left no detail unattended as they planned out this short but wonderful ocean festival!
