Whenever we take a vacation to a new place with our significant others, we always set aside one night for one really nice dinner. We dress up, order foods we ordinarily might avoid, and we take our time over every bite and every sip. This is the night we dedicate to us, and if you are of like mind, your Galveston vacation can only be improved by a visit to Rudy and Paco, voted in the top 100 Romantic Restaurants in America for 2018 by Open Table. Located at 2028 Postoffice Street, this moderately expensive restaurant serves the best seafood in town with a South American twist!
Upscale Elegance
With the exception of the blue and gold neon sign that indicates you have arrived at your epicurean destination, the exterior of Rudy and Paco is rather non-descript, featuring a tan and beige stone exterior with black awnings over the windows. It’s the interior, however, that will wow you. Dim lighting, white tablecloths, and a waitstaff that was voted Best of Island in 2017 all combine to create a dining experience like no other. Rudy and Paco is located next door to the Grand 1894 Opera House. Before show dinners are formal—no shorts, tank tops, or baseball caps are allowed. Lunches are casual and go along with the typical island vibe—laidback and carefree!
The Menu
Nothing is more romantic than a delicious meal at the finest of restaurants, and Rudy and Paco truly deserve their most romantic restaurant status. This is a place you take your time eating, making sure you taste every bite of your meal. Starting your meal with Paco’s Signature Lobster Tempura is always a good idea; the one-pound lobster tail is fresh, sweet, and delicious! Continuing the seafood theme, we recommend the Vuelva a la Vida, a hot and spicy dish featuring crab claws, shrimp, and calamari, all sautéed in a white wine butter. If you’re not in the mood for more seafood, the Filet Mignon is broiled and covered in a jalapeño cream; spicy, yet sweet and savory, this may be the most perfect steak we have ever tasted! The only way to end a meal this special is with a piece of their Tres Leches cake—sweet has never tasted this good!
