As mentioned above, there is no bad time to visit Galveston, but summer brings with it the ability to best enjoy many of Galveston’s most famous opportunities. This of course starts and ends with the amazing beaches here. As you are on an island, it is not difficult to find a beach. Beaches along Seawall Blvd are likely more crowded and fun, but there are plenty of beautiful pieces of shoreline where you can escape from crowds. One of the most pristine examples of this is found within the shorelines of Galveston Island State Park.
Great Events
The people in Galveston like nothing more than a good celebration, and the summer calendar is chock full of them! One of the most beloved of this is two-week long ‘Juneteenth’ celebration from June 5th to the 19th. There are a lot of things to love about this celebration, from the crawfish festival and picnics to concerts and reenactments. The celebrations culminate on June 19th with the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation; June 19th, 1865 was the day that the last slaves in the United States were freed. There are plenty more events that everyone will love!

There are many Galveston Beach things to do that provide fun for the whole family. One of them is one of the premiere waterparks in the entire country, Schlitterbahn Waterpark, which features the world’s largest water coaster, and summer is the perfect time to enjoy it. Another premiere attraction is Moody Gardens, which features an aquarium, a massive rainforest exhibit, and a whole new world celebrating discovery!
