Family Friendly Activities in Galveston

Galveston, Texas is renowned around the country for being one of the best spring break destinations, but it is actually one of the best places you can go for a family vacation as well. This is due to amazing weather and beauty, along with endless opportunities for activities that the whole family will enjoy. Some of the most popular of those activities are listed below to help you plan your next great family vacation to Galveston!

Visit the Seawall

The Seawall runs along the south end of the island and features over 10 miles of some of the best coastline in the entire country. It does not matter where you hunker down, as any spot along the Seawall provides ample space for soaking up the sun and plenty of nearby options to grab a drink or a bite to eat. But odds are you will want to bring a picnic, so you can eat right on the beach! This is also the perfect place to bring young children for swimming because the water is typically very calm.

Visit Pleasure Pier

Pleasure Pier got its name for a good reason: It is enjoyable to spend time here, regardless of your age or interests. This is due to endless opportunities for activities on the Pier. Among the most exciting are the opportunities to enjoy amusement park rides, like the roller coaster, Ferris Wheel, and so much more. But there is much more where that came from, as you will also find carnival style games, delicious food, a variety of unique shops, and more. For a very special opportunity, take advantage of the Weekend Adventure Pass that provides access to the Pleasure Pier along with the Houston Downtown Aquarium and the Kemah Boardwalk. There are certain rides with restrictions on how tall a child needs to be to ride, but children of all ages can still find a good time at the Pleasure Pier.

Moody Gardens

Visiting Moody Gardens is definitely the most unique way to spend a day in Galveston. Essentially, there are three different pyramids where each transport you to a different world. It starts with the newly renovated Aquarium Pyramid which puts you up close and personal with some of the most amazing wildlife from the Gulf. You can also enjoy the Rainforest Pyramid and the Discovery Pyramid. It is hard to say which of these attractions will be the kids’ favorite, but the Discovery Pyramid does have a Spongebob Squarepants exhibit…

Do one of these activities and you are sure to have a lovely vacation. Do all three of these things and your children are sure to never forget the time they spent in Galveston! Regardless of what you do while you are here, it will definitely be time well spent with the family.
