Located at 2002 Terminal Drive in Galveston, the Lone Star Flight Museum is a museum like no other. Not only can you tour this museum, and explore its exhibits of over 40 fully restored historic aircraft, you may also pay for the opportunity to take a flight in one of five crafts: the AT-6 Texan ($325), PT-17 Stearman ($250), Mescalero (up to 3 people can ride in this one and $250 is the total price), North American B-25 Mitchell ($400), and the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress ($450). These flight experiences last about 35 to 40 minutes and may seem a little pricey, but we think it’s worth it for the bragging rights alone! For those of you who may not be as adventurous, however, visiting this Galveston air & flight museum is still an exciting and compelling adventure that will stick with you for years to come!
Hours & Pricing
Open daily from 9 till 5 (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas), admission to the Lone Star Flight Museum is a good deal less than the cost of the flight experiences; adult admission is $10, seniors and children from 5-17 cost $8, and kids under 5 are free. November of 2015 brought a ground breaking ceremony for a new 130,000 square foot facility scheduled to open in 2017 and expected to include enhanced versions of what the current location offers and so much more! Interactive and educational, we at Sterling Realtors are excited to see what the future brings to Galveston flight & air museum, but we still love spending a day among the aircraft dreaming and wondering about how it must have been like to fly the beautiful exhibits displayed here!
